In the face of lingering inflation, high food prices, shrinking federal resources, and the pervasive impact of generational poverty and inequity, we are committed to addressing food insecurity in our Chicago neighborhoods. Our mission is to create free backyard gardens and provide comprehensive gardening education to families in Chicago's city communities. While our primary focus is on the neighborhoods located in city of Chicago, we are dedicated to extending our efforts to other surrounding cities and communities with the help of generous donations.
We believe that every family deserves access to fresh, homegrown produce and the knowledge to sustain their own garden. By joining our initiative, you can be part of a transformative journey that empowers families to grow your own food, fosters community resilience, and promotes food sovereignty. If you would like to be considered for a free garden setup, please submit a request with your name, residential zip code, email, phone number, the number of household members, and a brief explanation of why you want to start gardening.
With donations, we will offer free garden consultations and services, along with free gardens and resources. Together, we can cultivate a greener, healthier, and more equitable future for all of Chicago's communities.
Disclaimer: Please note that selections for free garden consultations and services, as well as gardening setups will be made based on the donations we collect. While we strive to assist as many families as possible to grow your own food, submitting a request does not guarantee a free garden setup. We appreciate your understanding and encourage all applicants to continue exploring ways to grow and enjoy a garden, even if not selected.
